"My working career started in the retail sector and then into external sales, sales management and sales training. My introduction to the cleaning industry was as a Franchise Development Manager for Autosmart.
I entered the carpet cleaning industry when I bought a Cleaning Doctor franchise 15 years ago. My passion for this industry led me to become IICRC and Woolsafe Certified and I joined the NCCA Board of Directors. My first role was as Events Director and the annual Carpet Cleaners Carnival was launched at Wicksteed Park. From the initial success of the event, it has been developed to its present format of the WCP show. I then took on responsibility as Admin Director and helped accomplish various milestones such as ISO9001, and the introduction of the staff pension scheme. I also represented the Association on the British Cleaning Council and took on the liaison role with Trustmark. We also saw the employment of a full-time CEO Dave Wheadon, who now also oversees the administration function as part of his varied role.
During my time as Admin Director I was honoured to serve the members as President and on handing over the presidency last year to Allan Simmons asked if I could take on the role of Standards & Fair Trading Director. Anyone that knows me is aware that honesty, integrity and ethics are the primary driving force on a personal basis and the strength behind taking on this position. I deal with a variety of issues, from consumer complaints where I will be the arbitrator between the two parties to find a resolution.
My main concern is the illegal use of the NCCA Intellectual Property Rights ie Logo misuse, false claims, T&C’s that do meet the legal requirements etc and I need the assistance of the membership to help point out companies or individuals that are “passing off” so that I may take action on behalf of the Association and its members. I also represent the NCCA at Trustmark and believe that now the new board are elected and funds have been made available by the government that Trustmark will help us to raise industry standards.
If any members identify our IP Rights being infringed could you in the first instance please notify the office who will log the details and then inform us so that we can take action."

“Mike came to clean our living room carpet due to our puppy having quite a few accidents! We’ve gone through the hassle of renting a carpet cleaner before and I was worried that getting a professional cleaner in was going to cost a fortune but it wasn’t at all and the results were 10x better! Mike was absolutely brilliant very professional, the carpet looked like it had just been put in.”
Congratulations to Mike and Michelle!

"I started cleaning in 2004 as a general cleaner concentrating on domestic and commercial cleaning purely to have the flexibility to spend more time with my young family. Like most people, I fell into carpet cleaning and realised very quickly that I was out of my depth and soon completed some training.
That's when I developed a passion for knowledge and quickly went into end of tenancy cleans, whilst developing the carpet cleaning side of the business. To me good transparent customer service has always been my passion and strength. At first, I started employing people, but found them to be unreliable and had poor standards so I quickly had to reinvent the business. My initial role within the NCCA was to help the Training Director develop the membership structure which I felt passionate about. I also redesigned the survey forms with the new members in mind.
Furthermore, I wanted to help new members obtain good standards so took the role of personally contacting every new member who applied to join for around two years which was almost a full-time voluntary position.
My role now focusses on compliance, but as always, we need your help! If you see or hear of anyone who you believe is not a member, displaying or implying they are members, please contact the office and it will be investigated by myself or Nigel.
I work with an amazing team of directors and with Dave at the helm, I'm proud to be part of the board and would like to continue to be as helpful as possible."
With party season soon upon us, many households across the UK are busy preparing their homes for guests. In fact, over 90% of households are entertaining in their homes between now and New Year’s Eve. The NCCA Party Season Survey revealed the nation’s biggest after party nightmares in the home.
The biggest after party nightmare is revealed as stains in the carpet followed by something going missing. One-fifth of households say that they have had stains on their carpets or sofas following a party, with red wine revealed as the most common morning-after party stain, followed by coffee. Alarmingly, the NCCA Party Season Survey revealed that 1 in 10 have been unable to identify the stain. *TOP TIP* – If you don’t know what the stain is, don’t guess. Always seek professional help via Trusted Local Cleaners.
Two-thirds of those surveyed for the NCCA Party Season Survey said they still have stains somewhere in the home at least six months after a party, and 10% of households even admitted to having guilty party stains for FIVE YEARS OR MORE! A quarter of Brits admit they have either moved furniture to cover up stains or blamed a stain on someone else such as a partner, spouse, child or pet. Furthermore, 10% of people confessed to spilling something on someone else’s floor and NEVER TELLING!
Autumn and Winter were revealed to be the most neglected seasons for deep cleaning the home, so why not give your soft furnishings some TLC this Christmas?
The featured #TLCofthemonth for October goes to Aqua Fresh Floor Care.
"Having got several quotes for full carpet cleaning, rug cleaning, sofa and armchair cleaning and oven clean, these guys really were a cut above the rest. They were so professional, coming free of charge for a full quote and carefully tested all the different fibres. They explained on the most suitable products for the different types of fibres - I had no idea how specialist it was when you do such a professional job. It's not just a case of one cleaning product for all. Really reasonable on price too! My houses were so fresh and sanitised when they had come. Absolutely beautiful and can't recommend these guys enough. I've moved house 4 times and they have been amazing every time."
