Our Professional Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning training course, is a two-part, entry level programme for both newcomers to the cleaning industry and experienced professionals.

Learn from impartial training on a wide spectrum of carpet and soft furnishing cleaning equipment and techniques.

Programme Schedule

Day 1

Carpet Cleaning 9:00am – 5:00pm

  • Client and survey approach
  • Fibres and construction
  • Equipment and application
  • Dry soil extraction
  • Spotting theory
  • Plant cleaning
  • Question time

Day 2

Upholstery Cleaning and Exam 9:00am – 5:00pm

  • Client and survey approach
  • Construction and fillers
  • Fabrics
  • Dry soil removal
  • Equipment and application
  • Approach to stain removal
  • Discussion time
  • Multiple choice examination

Successful completion of this course, or equivalent accepted training, and the accompanying exam will allow delegates to apply for membership of the NCCA.

Each trainee will receive the NCCA’s extensive Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning Training Manual to keep and a study guide to prepare for the examination.

Day 3 - Spot & Stain Removal Course

Spot & Stain Cleaning 9:00am – 4:30pm

  • Customer advice (Accidents happen)
  • Typical Problems
  • Spots and Stains (How do you know what to look for?)
  • Fibres and Construction pH
  • Spotting kit (Basic, Advanced, Preparation)
  • The five steps (Identify, Required re-agent, Application, Removal, Rinsing)
  • Problems
  • Fabric protectors (Benefits)

Lunch and refreshments included.

Delegates are encouraged to bring their own Spotting kit, or alternatively any tools that you are used to working with. All delegates will receive an attendance certificate, new course manual and ‘tools of the trade’ samples

FAQ's

I am completely new to the industry, is this course right for me?

Absolutely! We find that over 75% of course attendees are completely new starters.

How much is the course?

The standard course fee is £516.00 + VAT. This includes three days training, course materials, lunch & refreshments and the exam.

The standard non-member rate is for all new starters and prospective membership applicants. Registered members are eligible for a discount for employees and/or new technicians.

Do I need to bring anything?

Please bring your own notepad/paper and pen, will we provide stationary and Hand sanitiser on-site. We would also recommend bringing your own drinking vessel to refill.

Where can I find the nearest accommodation?

There is ample accommodation in the vicinity of each training venue. For Glasgow, search for hotels around G52 4NQ

Am I a member as soon as I finish the course?

No. Following successful completion of the course and exam, you will be invited to join the Association. You must apply for membership and have your application approved by the NCCA membership committee. Visit our dedicated membership page for more information.

Can I use the NCCA logo once I've completed the course?

The NCCA name & logo is trademark registered, which means only NCCA members are entitled to use it to promote themselves. You are not permitted to advertise using 'NCCA trained', 'NCCA approved' or use the NCCA logo unless you become a fully registered member.

Misuse of the name or logo by non-members is in breach of Consumer Protection legislation and will be reported to Trading Standards for prosecution.

Is membership included in the course fee?

No membership is not included within the course fee. Following successful completion of the course & exam, you will receive an email with your exam results and details about how to apply. The standard annual membership fee is currently £279.55 + VAT. Further details and payment options are provided once your application is approved.

What happens if I fail the exam?

Don't worry, we understand that there may be a lot of information to digest over three days. If you are unsuccessful in the exam, we will email you a follow-up exam paper which can be completed at your home or place or work. This is all included in the course fee.

Can you recommend machines & chemicals?

The course provides impartial training on a wide spectrum of carpet and soft furnishing cleaning equipment and techniques. The Association works closely with a number of reputable manufacturers and suppliers in the industry, which can be found here.

Is there parking at the training centre?

Various parking facilities are available around the training venues. Please refer to your booking confirmation for further information.
