NCCA Response to COVID-19

The NCCA’s mission statement is “The establishment and maintenance of professional standards within the carpet, soft furnishings, leather and hard floor cleaning industry, with the dual aim of safeguarding the reputation of the industry and protecting its customers.”

It is therefore our duty to protect the reputation of our industry and support our customers.

There are a number of companies claiming to be able to kill the Coronavirus COVID-19. Please note this is serious misinformation. COVID-19 is an enveloped virus, and at present there are NO KNOWN products certified to break that envelope. A professional cleaning company or chemical supplier/manufacturer should NEVER make this guarantee.

The NCCA response to COVID-19 is: Please don’t be misled by claims that cannot be backed up scientifically.

Regardless of what chemicals may be able to destroy the Coronavirus, we are not aware of a product that will kill the new strain, COVID-19, that has the legal backing. Scientific tests on COVID-19 are no doubt underway but are in the very early stages of testing.

A professional cleaning company will however, ensure that they are maintaining the correct hygiene practices to the highest standard, regularly disinfecting their equipment and wearing personal protective equipment to reduce the likelihood of spreading the virus.

As well as acknowledging the NCCA response to COVID-19, we recommend to follow official guidelines from GOV.UKand NHS. We are also following the technical cleaning advice from the British Institute Cleaning Science.
